The Asian Shippers’ Alliance agrees to contribute to the review process of the EU Consortia Block Exemption Regulation, to battle against sharply increasing shipping costs, and to encourage the improvement of liners’ performance. Among other priorities the Asian shippers underlined sustainability, trade facilitation, and adoption of suitable trading and logistics technology such as data analytics and artificial intelligence to increase the efficiency of the global supply chains.
The ASA meeting took place in Amsterdam in March 2019 and was attended by the Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh, Indonesian National Shippers’ Council, Korean Shippers’ Council, Macau Shippers’ Association, Thai Nathioanl Shippers’ Council, and the Hond Kong Shippers’ Council. European Shippers’ Council and the Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council attended the meeting as observers.
